Conversation

(Rahul enters a small tea shop and sees his old friend Meera sitting at a corner table.)

Rahul: Meera! Is that you? Wow, it’s been ages since we met!
Meera: Rahul! Oh my goodness, yes, it really has been a long time. Please, come sit with me.
Rahul: Thanks. This place looks so cozy. I’ve walked past it many times but never came inside.
Meera: You should have! It’s my favorite tea shop. The owner, Amara, is such a kind woman. She knows almost everyone who comes here.

(Amara, the shop owner, comes over with a smile.)

Amara:
Good evening! What can I get for you two today?

Meera: Hi Amara, I’ll have my usual ginger tea, please.
Rahul: Hmm, I’m not much of a tea drinker. What do you recommend?
Amara: If you like something spicy and flavorful, try our masala chai. If you want something light, I’d suggest lemon tea.
Rahul: Spicy and flavorful sounds interesting. I’ll go with masala chai, then.
Amara: Perfect choice! I’ll bring your teas in a few minutes.

(Amara leaves to prepare the tea.)

Rahul:
So, Meera, how have you been? Still working at the design company?
Meera: Yes, but things have been very hectic lately. Deadlines, late nights, endless emails. That’s why I love coming here. It helps me relax.
Rahul: I can imagine. My job is stressful too. I’m always running between meetings. But this place feels peaceful, unlike those noisy coffee shops.
Meera: Exactly! Here, people actually sit and talk. It’s not just about tea—it’s about connection.

(Amara returns with the tea and sets the cups on the table.)

Amara:
Here you go—one ginger tea and one masala chai. Careful, it’s hot!
Rahul: Thank you! Wow, this smells amazing.
Meera: Go on, try it. You’ll love it.
Rahul (after sipping): Mmm… this is incredible. I’ve never had tea like this before.
Amara (smiling): I’m glad you like it. For me, tea is not just a drink—it’s a way of bringing people together.

(Amara walks back to serve another table. Rahul leans closer to Meera.)

Rahul:
You know, she’s right. A simple cup of tea, and suddenly I feel calm.
Meera: That’s the magic of this place. And Amara makes everyone feel at home. She even remembers what you ordered weeks ago.
Rahul: That’s rare these days. In big cafés, you’re just another customer. Here, you’re a guest.
Meera: True. And sometimes she even gives tea on the house.
Rahul: Really? That’s so kind of her.

(They sip their tea quietly for a moment, listening to the soft rain outside.)

Rahul:
You know, I think I’ll start coming here more often. This place is special.
Meera: I told you! Next time, we can try her cardamom tea—it’s amazing.
Rahul: Deal! And maybe we should catch up more often too. It’s nice to talk like this, away from all the noise.
Meera: Agreed. Life feels lighter when you take time to slow down.

(Amara comes back to check on them.)

Amara:
How’s the tea?
Rahul: Absolutely wonderful. You may have just converted me into a tea lover.
Amara (laughing): That’s the best compliment I could ask for. Come back anytime—you’ll always be welcome here.
